History: Pre-Academy Arc: Lau was born into a royal clan in Krigakure known as the Chintau, a clan who summoned 3 different creatures from their tattoos on their bodies. The first color tattoo a clan member would recieve would be the red dragon, which they would recieve when they turned 15 and shed the blood of another, and would have it tattooed on their back. Their second color tattoo would be the black snake, which they would recieve when they turned 17 and saved the life of another, an would have it tattooed on their torso.
The last tattoo is white and is only revealed to the leader of the clan. Lau was born as the second oldest child of the 7 children of Ip Chintau, leader of the Chintau. Lau barely got any attention from his father, as Ip was always training his older brother, Shen, to become the next leader. Lau would instead spend his time playing with his younger siblings until he was 8 and joined the academy.
Academy Arc: When he joined the academy, Lau was always accompanied by 2 jounin for protection. He was never able to make friends as everyone was kept away from him so they wouldn't "defile" him with their poor hands. Lau was always lonely during classes until he met the girl he fell in love with at first sight. She was an academy student who was the only daughter of one of Ip Chintau's 4 younger brothers. Her name was Ran-Mao Chintau.
Because she shared the same blood, she was the only academy student who was allowed to have contact with Lau. But she was extremely silent and always ignored Lau when he attempted to talk to her. One night Lau snuck out and went to Ran-Mao's house to try and find out why she hated him. When he arrived he found one of the other academy students, running away with a large bag. Lau saw that Ran-Mao's window was broken and he immediately chased after the student. When he caught up he managed to steal Ran-Mao back before the student drowned her in a river. Lau and the student then fought for a couple minutes until Lau found himself losing.
The student then lunged at him with a kunai to finish Lau but was instantly stabbed from behind by Ran-Mao. The student explained that he had attempted to kill Ran-Mao in order to bring her body to his father who was after the kekkai genkai of the Chintau Clan. Ran-Mao and Lau both took the body to Lau's jounin bodygaurds and told them what happened.
Apparently, the jounin told Ip Chintau, because as Lau came home the next day, he found his father standing over a bloodied man. Lau knew without asking that the man was the father of the student who had kidnapped Ran-Mao. Soon, Lau and Ran-Mao became best friends and spent all their time together, helping each other study and train as well. With eachother's help they both graduated from the academy.
Genin Arc: Lau and Ran-Mao graduated and were put together in the same squad. Their teammate was the son of the Mizukage at the time whose name was Shoyo Mori. The team leader was one of the jounin bodygaurds of Lau. They did simple missions such as finding cats and such until Lau's father found out. He wanted Lau to have missions that would put him in danger and push his limits as he didn't want any of his clan members to be weak and do poor people work. Lau's team was instantly sent on C and B ranked missions such as assasination missions and stealing important scrolls an items from other villages. Lau and Ran-Mao took care of these things with ease even though they despised doing it.
On top of things, Lau's father began making him start fights with the shinobi of the village, no matter what the rank, as to let the village know the strength of their clan. This ended up taking time away from hanging out with Ran-Mao. So instead of fighting, Lau instead asked the jounin of the village to paint their eyes black as to make it seem like they lost to Lau, while Lau actually snuck out of the village to spend time with Ran-Mao in secret.
One day, Lau's father found him out and punished him by slashing his stomach and leaving him alone, bleeding to death. Ran-Mao soon found him and took him to the hospital. While recovering in the hospital, Lau found out about the upcoming chunin exams and decided to go even though he was not fully recovered and Ran-Mao wished for him to stay in the hospital longer.
Chuunin Exam: Before the chunin exams, Lau's father told him that he would be expected to cheat in the first part without being caught. He then threatened to cut Lau's throat open if he cheated instead of answering them by himself. So when the first part of the exams began, Lau blew his brain out answering the questions but in the end, managed to finish them. He went onto the forest of death but after their first fight, Lau began to lose his strength from his wound.
Ran-Mao took care of him and fed him while their team mate went ahead and made sure things were safe. They managed to get the second scroll without Lau and brought Lau to the tower. In the tower, Lau was taken into medical treatment. Due to the small amount of genin who made it through the proctors found no need to host preliminary rounds and began the finals a month later. While waiting for the finals, Lau's father refused to train him, saying that if he was a true member of the Chintau, he'd be able to beat any poor person without training. Lau's brother, Shen, who was now 17 and an ANBU, heard about Lau going to the final exam and secretly trained him and Ran-Mao.
Shen explained to them the true secret behind their bloodline, Shiro, Beni, Kiro. The tattoo that summoned their Beni and Kiro creatures were merely portals that allowed the creatures into the world. The tattoos are given to them by the elder clan members when they prove they are mature enough to handle the powers. But without the tattoos, Lau and Ran-Mao could still gain a burst of energy since they have met the requirements to unlock the power of Beni and Kiro. So Shen spent the month teaching them how to use this power. When the finals came, Ran-Mao and Lau easily defeated their opponents and ended up facing each other for the final match. Ran-Mao told Lau that he would lose if he went easy on her. Lau and Ran-Mao fought hard against one another until Ran-Mao finally fell onto her knees covered in bruises. Lau stood over her smiling warmly and held out his hand to help her up.
But from behind, Lau could feel a dense bloodlust and turned around to see his father in the crowd, his eyes telling him to finish her. Lau didn't know what to do. Ran-Mao was the girl he loved more than anything, but his father would definetley kill him if he disobeyed him. Lau stood there sweating, not knowing what to do, when he noticed his father's eyes grow heavy and fall asleep. He turned his sight next to his father to notice Shen smiling at him. Lau sighed in relief and was declared victor by the proctors.
Chuunin Arc: Lau was promoted to chunin along with Ran-Mao because of her amazing skills. As a chunin, they began to go on different missions than each other but would always go out to dinner when they could. 2 years later, when they turned 15, they were given their Beni tattoos. Lau and Ran-Mao then began to start training their Beni powers every day for a year until they had mastered it. At age 16 their father began to grow old and weakened. Around this time Lau began to notice a weird change in Shen's behavior.
Shen was usually social and told jokes but was now silent and secluded, and would disappear into the Chintau shrine under Lau's house. Lau's father started to grow angry at Lau's inferior skills compared to Shen's. He began to threaten to kill him again if he didn't grow stronger then Shen by the time he turned 17. Lau began to train furiously until his 17th birthday. After Lau recieved his Kiro tattoo, his father made him fight against Shen. Lau almost instantly lost.
His father kicked Lau in anger and promised to kill him the next day. That night, Lau couldn't sleep because of his fear of the next day, and walked around his house. He decided to go see Ran-Mao but stopped as he watched the sillouhettes of Shen and his father head into the Chintau shrine. After a couple minutes passed by he walked down and watched as Shen fought his father. Lau hid behind a statue as the two fought fiercly against each other. Soon, his father lost his leg and arm and crawled away from Shen screaming for help.
Lau walked out in front of him, and Lau's father began pleading for Lau to save him. But Lau just looked at his bloodied father begged pathetically. Lau's father then died from blood loss and Lau stepped on his body as he headed towards Shen. He smiled and thanked Shen but Shen frowned and told him he didn't do it for Lau. He then stepped on a tile on the floor which brought a chest out of the ground. Shen took the scroll out and gave it to Lau and walked out of the shrine. When he left, Lau read the scroll. What he read explained the last tattoo, Shiro. In order to earn the last tattoo, the member of Chintau must kill the leader of the clan. Lau closed the scroll and walked out but was stopped by a group of clan members and police. They explained that he was under arrest for the murders of the leader of Chintau as well as the elders. Lau tried to explain what happened but was tackled and taken away by the police. As Lau was being arrested, Ran-Mao jumped out of the sky and killed everyone and rescued Lau. They fled the village together and thus became missing nins.
Lau explained everything to Ran-Mao who asked him if he wanted revenge. Lau didn't want revenge, seeing as how he was now free from missions and could spend all his time with Ran-Mao. She agreed and they both started their now carefree life. But when Lau turned 22, shinobi from Krigakure found them and attacked them. After defeating the attackers, Lau realized he wouldn't be able to live happily until he proved his innocence. Lau decided it would be best if Ran-Mao and he split up for a while in order to throw pursuers off their track. And so began Lau's goal to live happily.
RP Sample: Lau stood in a dango shop, chewing his food as he noticed an old man being bullied by a group of genin. They were pushing him around and smacking him so Lau stood up and walked over to the group. "Now,now...why are children doing such evil deeds? What is the world coming to?" he said frowning. The genin took out kunais and told Lau to mind his own buisness or they'd teach him a lesson. Lau simply stood staring at them while he finished his dango. Once finished he put his hands together and bowed to the chef and said, "Thank you for the meal sir." Lau then took the sharp wooden stick that once held his dango and shoved it up the genin's nose, then threw him at the other genin. The genin then took the injured kid and ran away screaming. "Punks...." Lau said in disgust.
