Emi is extremely short for her age and her overall body is undeveloped making it easy for others to mistake her for an academy student who is only ten at best. Ever since she was born she was deprived of the ability to see and since she can’t see out of them her eyes often stay closed. When she was little and her senses still weren’t enhanced because of her impairment her eyes would wander about. Later when her senses got better she was able to pull off looking like an average person who could see what was going on even if she actually couldn’t. Emi’s eyes are a natural red color and the type of blindness she has does not affect the way they look. Emi refuses to wear shoes since she finds them uncomfortable so she runs around with only socks on. Most of the time she dresses in over sized clothing since she finds them easier to move in and if she had the choice of wearing clothing and not she would prefer to walk around naked. Emi’s clothing is also large so when she grows she won’t have to buy a larger size because it costs too much.





Personality Description:

When people originally meet Emi they would think of her as somewhat mature but this only lasts for their first conversation. Afterwards if they talk to her she no longer puts up the small mature aura and instead tends to be more of herself. At almost all times Emi is very illogical and her brain connects two things that don’t belong together. One example is her planning for vacation in the summer but would end up packing half of her winter clothing in the off chance of bad weather. Maybe she might not pack her bathing suit because it might be cold despite it being a hundred degrees outside and they will be staying near the pool. This has always made her terrible at planning things because she leaves out important factors and puts in fake ones which ruin her judgment. Emi has also been described as silly and partially crazy even though she doesn’t talk like it or show it but the actions she does sometimes are extreme.

Since birth Emi has despised being alone and she was lucky enough to have a little brother who followed her everywhere. Even if she said she didn’t want him to follow her she was happy that she always knew someone was there with her. Despite wanting people to be around her sometimes her personality chases them away. Emi is always found shouting about and not just because someone made her angry. Emi always gets embarrassed easily along with getting offended easily. When she gets embarrassed instead of becoming quiet like most people do she starts to pick fights with others.

Another cause of why Emi sometimes ends up alone even though she wants to be with people is because she gets ticked off easily. Small things like a complement could be miss understood by Emi and cause her to get pissed off. One of the things that can easily piss her off is when people treat her like a child which is why she tries to act mature that way she can avoid this as much as she can. Emi also hates how everyone tends to treat her like a fragile doll because she is blind and petite.

Throughout Emi’s life she had lost many friends for got treating them properly. When anyone needs help wither it is her friend or not she would never lend a helping hand or even give them a second glance. In some ways she is doing this to spite the world because when she was in need out on the streets with her family no one did anything to help her or even show her a single act of kindness. Emi refuses to make any true friends so any of the people she is friends with she wouldn’t mind selling them out if it somehow benefited herself. The only two people in the world she truly cares about are her little brother, Arata, and her grandmother, Maiko.

Emi was an adequate student in school and got high grades but always did badly on her book work. She never was able to sit still and study her work because she always found herself distracted. Often in class she would believe something is correct and have trouble understanding why it was wrong or how to do it correctly. Emi never could get rid of her habits easily either meaning she wasn’t able to adapt to something new that changed what she already knew. It also can take time to convince Emi of something that is different then what she thinks because she is always stubborn no mater if it is dealing with her ninja training or life.

When in fights Emi gives off a different vibe then usual and instead of being harsh, loud, and ignorant she seems graceful and elegant. Even though Emi tends to send out a graceful aura when she fights she is often known to be rash. She truly doesn’t understand the meaning behind hurting or killing people and feels no remorse for one reason or another. Emi only purpose in life is to protect her two family members and once she can insure they will be fine, she wouldn’t care if she lived or died.

History:

Pre-Academy Arc:

Life for Emi had never been easy since her birth and it never was for her parents. Two short years after she was born her father was killed out on a mission leaving only her mother and grandmother left. Since birth Emi was deprived of the ability to see and always had trouble making her way around so her parents barely let her out of their site. Emi was born into a family at the break of poverty with only the money her mother made from running a small shabby breakfast place. Unlike her mother both her father and grandmother were excellent ninja and her grandmother would have went back from retirement to help earn money but she was sick so instead she spent most of the day in bed.

Despite Emi’s father dying she was happy because they still hadn’t fully explained to her what death was and instead she was told her father was “away”. The whole house cheered up even though it was only a month after her father’s death but for good reasons, there was a baby coming. The merriment only lasted for a short time and once the baby was born things took a change for the worst. A few minutes after Arata’s birth their mother passed away leaving no one to support the family.

Without medical attention her grandmother’s condition was getting worse and soon she had to use the last of what money they had left to go to annual doctor appointments because she couldn’t survive without them. Since they didn’t have enough money to pay for their apartment they were kicked onto the street with nowhere to go. Emi was still a child and didn’t understand anything that was happening and all she knew was what she was told since she couldn’t see things for herself. Life out on the streets was rough and for some time she didn’t know she was living there till people started to call them street rats.

When Emi was about five she began to understand how cruel the world was and decided to try to help out her family and try to get money. That day she was planning to help her family Maiko, her grandmother was out trying to find something to eat because they all were starving. Emi was left to watch over her brother since Maiko thought it was too dangerous for them to come with her when she tried to steal some food or find some scraps left over by restaurants. Emi was learning to follow her other senses already so she was able to walk around a bit without hitting into too many things. She quickly leaned over to her baby brother hushing him so he would stop crying and began to hug him.

Emi decided she had to do something and guided him around the familiar streets of the town with her memory as her only guide. It was only a few blocks away and so she soon arrived there and placed Arata down on a bench. She had heard how her aunt begged and wanted to give it a try so she pulled off her scarf and laid it on the ground and did silly little dances while asking for money. No mater how much she tried the people just pushed by and completely ignored her effort. She continued doing this for a hour but still she hadn’t been given any money and so she decided to take a break.

It was already growing dark and Emi knew this by the way the park birds were quiet and the amount of sounds coming from people grew quiet. She had remembered she had left without her aunts permission and picked up Arata and ran off trying to find where her aunt had originally left her. She dashed through streets and finally arrived back at a small passage way between buildings with an overhang and she knew this place was home. Emi couldn’t hear the voice of Maiko or the sound of her sleeping so she placed Arata down on a box and felt around for her aunt. She searched the walls and all around the small area and was positive her aunt wasn’t there so she waited and finally her grandmother returned with enough food to only to fill one person. It was enough though since Arata and Emi were still only children and she gave it to them and barely ate any herself.

When Emi grew her sense was heightened also to make up for not being able to see. She was now able to hear the difference in foot steps and make out how far away they were and who they belonged to if she knew them. By this time she was already seven years old and her little brother was four. Emi’s grandmother now spent more time lying about and she could hear from the way her grandmother acted that her condition was getting worse. She now decided once again she would try to do something to help her family but instead of begging like she did as a five year old she had a new idea. Since she couldn’t get a job as a seven year old not to mention no one who might hire a child would not want a blind one she decided on stealing.

Day after day Emi would search the streets leaving Arata with Maiko and looked for food shops she could steal from. She was becoming skilled at being sneaky and knew just when they weren’t looking so she could snatch something. Emi never took too much just enough to feed her family and they could continue living. Maiko didn’t know that Emi was stealing and just believed Emi’s lie about getting a part time job at a food shop and got to take home the leftovers.

Life for Emi was about making it by day to day and it became simple for her to steal like second nature. Good things have to come to a end sometimes though and one time she was overly careless when stealing something and was caught. She was yanked from the store and expected it to be the owner who did this to her but the man who did was far too quick or she would have ran. The man who pulled her out of the store was actually a ninja who worked at the academy.

“Your quite a skilled thief I have to hand that to you.” The man spoke as he held Emi’s hand tightly so she couldn’t escape from his grasp. She tried pulling her hand back but he wouldn’t release it and she knew that she was in a lot of trouble. Emi’s eyes traveled about trying to guess where his body was standing. The man seemed to notice the way her eyes weren’t focused and bent down and looked directly into her face only far enough away that she wouldn’t feel him breathing. He immediately noticed her eyes paid no attention to his new movements and continued to search up for where he might be standing. “You can’t be… Blind.” The ninja questioned amazed that a child was able to be skilled enough to be able to steal only listening to sounds. The second he started to speak Emi’s eyes found where his body should be and stared directly into his eyes. “So what.?” Emi replied bluntly showing no signs of fear in her actions.

The ninja moved again this time Emi’s eyes followed him as he moved even though she couldn’t see the movement but heard it. She was sure he was watching her now examining her fully by the way their conversation ended. “I can’t let you off for stealing just because you’re blind. So as punishment you will have to help me with my work today.” Emi wasn’t sure what the real punishment for stealing was but was positive that wasn’t it so she guessed he let her off. A few seconds later she nodded slightly and the second she did she felt a pull on her arm bringing her back into the store. Emi at first guessed the man was planning on telling the owner about her stealing so she couldn’t do it again and he did along with purchasing some food. Again her arm got tugged out of the store and into the bustling streets and quickly down the streets she had never been on before.

After some time she and the ninja arrived at a pond and the man standing next to her handed her a bag. “Today I had free time so I decided to take a D-rank Mission.” He told her and handed her a stick for picking up trash and started to clean the pond. Emi glanced at the things in her hand not fully understanding what she was supposed to do so instead decided focus on what he was saying. She was sure she heard of a mission before, her grandmother always mentioned them when talking about her past as a ninja. Yes, that made sense that was how this man was so fast! Clearly he was a ninja.

Emi could hear water splashing and figured the man was pocking the water with a stick so did the same. She didn’t pick up anything though just continuously moved around the water. “No… pick up the trash just don’t just probe the water.” The ninja said to her wondering if he should have forced the girl to help out. Emi started to do it correctly and picked up trash all around the floor of the pond. One time she stabbed her stick into the water and pierced a fish going by and quickly pulled it out of the water and examined it. She touched her hand to it and felt its rough scales and heard its fin flap about just before it died. Yes she knew this creature she had one for dinner once and had felt and heard it before in the stores she went to. Quickly she placed it in the plastic bag the ninja gave her and disposed of it. They continued to clean the pond till there wasn’t any trash left in it though because of Emi there were less fish too.

Once they finished they sat back on the hill next to the ocean and the ninja pulled open the bag he got from the store and removed two things of food and handed one to Emi along with that a bit of money. “The money is half the money I got for doing this job and the food is just a reward.” The man said and began to eat the fresh food as he watched Emi stare at the container of food for a bit. She didn’t mind too much being caught because today she learned something new plus got money that she could save up. Emi felt strange getting food but opened the container and began to eat without even saying thank-you for the reward though the ninja was sure she was.

“You should think about doing something other then stealing, you are good enough to become a ninja even if you are blind after being schooled of course.” Emi ate quietly but thought about what he said and decided it would be a good idea if she could have time. Emi ate only one third of her meal and left the rest and quickly closed the container even though she wasn’t full yet. Knowing the man would ask her why she is not eating all she spoke up and decided to tell him. "I am saving the rest for my family.” After that they split up and Emi wandered back to her home though it took some time since she had never went this far away from her house.

Academy Arc:

It took Emi a year to decide but she finally chose to join the academy even if she was a bit late. She started off the first day in her school and had already learned new things from the start she had a natural gift of being good at taijutsu and she was okay at taijutsu. The one problem Emi faced was being unable to focus and learn things from explanations and she couldn’t learn from the textbooks they had because she couldn’t read them. In class she made friends fast though they all noticed how strange she was from the start.

Life was improving somewhat for Emi and she now had become better at pretending not to be blind and was able to get a small part time job where she made money after school. She had trouble getting rid of the habit of stealing money since she wanted to be able to save money to get an apartment which seemed like a fantasy to her. Emi spent some of the money she earned getting her grandmother treatment so she started to get healthy again. Though they still lived in the streets because of Emi her family’s living conditions improved.

After the first few weeks in the academy Emi had a smaller group of friends because she got into fights with a lot of them. Many times during the time in the academy she got in trouble for hurting kids and picking fights with others. Sometimes when playing games people wouldn’t want her on their team since she would do anything to win meaning she might get someone tagged so she can stay safe. While in the academy her grandmother took out time and taught her clan jutsu which she quickly learned. Over all though she had some fun and passed threw the academy with high grades in many things.

Genin Arc:

Once Emi became a genin she was able to make enough money with her job to afford a very small apartment so they no longer had to live in the street. Now that her little brother is old enough to work he got a part time job to help support their family. Even though he could work more now Emi refused to let him work more then a few hours and insisted he went to the academy so he could learn basic knowledge and maybe become a genin. Emi learns as much about the Kaguya clan as she can from her grandmother and also has found other Kaguya clan members which she might be able to learn from in the future.
